About Dr. SAMiAM









Dr. Sabreen Mutawally, better known as ‘Dr. SaM iAM’, has dedicated her entire professional and personal life to serving others. A native of Brooklyn, NY byway of Georgetown, Guyana, Dr. Mutawally has been an educator for over a decade, and a lifelong advocate and proponent for people’s rights and education. Dr. SAM holds a Bachelor of Arts in Health and Physical Education from Hampton University, a Master of Science in Adapted Physical Education from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and more recently, has earned a PhD in Education with an emphasis in Leadership, Policy and Change from Walden University.

As a sought after instructional and curriculum coach, advocate for education, and strategic thinker, Dr. SAM continuously seeks to ensure that advocacy in education and wellness amongst the minority population receives heightened awareness. Her vast knowledge of instructional strategies, especially in the area of minority male students, has resulted in her presenting at various conferences throughout the United States, including the Thomasville City Schools Teacher-Lead Conference, the United States Parole Commission Black History Month Program, the North Carolina New Schools Summer Institute, and the College Board A Dream Deferred Conference, just to name a few.

Accolades received in her professional and educational career include, Teacher of the Year in 2010 and 2013, and District Teacher of the Year runner-up in 2010. A mentor to new teachers, and encouragement to those tenured, she provided her knowledge as an assessment prototype reviewer and test evaluator for the National Evaluation Series. 

Dr. Mutawally currently serves as an Assistant Principal in Greensboro, North Carolina. Additionally, she is an adjunct professor at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where she teaches Fitness and Aging and Sports Medicine to undergraduate students. She uses her platform to bring awareness to the need for complete wellness of mind, body, soul and spirit. A believer and educator, Dr. SAM values the holistic wellness of all people. 


As a licensed evangelist missionary in the Church of God in Christ, Dr. SAM has opened her heart to God's tugging to advocate for singles and encourage them to live a maximized life. Her pursuit of God's heart has opened doors in both ministry and educational arenas. Dr. SAMiAm's ultimate goal is to please God and to leave an impact. Dr. SAM has taken her work overseas where she hopes to fulfill the theme of her life verse, Judges 5:7, The towns of Israel stood abandoned, Deborah; they stood empty until you came...(GNT). Before she begins any assignment her prayer is that when it is all over, that they would see Jesus first and Jesus only.
